Join LJHS Sailing!
Are you a high schooler interested in sailing for La Jolla High School? LJHS Sailing welcomes students of all experience levels to join the team! While we love sailors who already have a bit of sailing experience under their belt, more importantly, the only thing required is an eagerness to learn! Please fill out the Sign-Up Form below if you would like to join LJHS Sailing. We are excited to hopefully have you on our team!
Practices
Day: Monday and Wednesday
Time: 3/3:30-6/6:30 (depending on the time of year)
Location: Mission Bay Yacht Club


Try before you buy
Send us an email to give us a heads up, then join us for any of our regular Monday/Wednesday practices to ask questions and check the team out before commiting to the entire season!
Non-LJHS Students
The LJHS Sailing Team can accomodate students who do not attend La Jolla High School on a case by case bases. A couple students from Mt. Everest Academy sail for the team as their school does not have a sailing team. Rules regarding students who attend a high school that doesn't have a sailing team or homeschooled students are goverened by PCISA and the decision is theirs. Costs
Practices
$400 per trimester or $1000 for the whole seaason to MBYC for coaching
$200 per trimester or $550 for the whole season to MBYC for boat charter
Average Cost per Practice
$30 with the trimester plan
$26 with the full season plan


Regatta Expenses
What to expect:
Grant funding pays for the team registration and boat charter fees.
You pay your own travel and share in regatta coaching expenses which range from $80-$200 per sailor for each one or two day regatta. The average cost per sailor for each regatta attended during the 2024/25 season was:
Non-ranking (SoCal) Regattas: $55
Ranking (PCISA) Regattas: $110
